A Grandma's Cheesecake Sandwiches Update

Well, as you all know we did not get selected for the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest...voting obviously was a big part of their process, and being such a new business where we're still trying to get the word out landed us shy of what we needed to get over the first hurtle, but cheers to the top 100 businesses that made it through the first round. We will try again next year when we are more recognizable. So much has been happening, which is great when you are launching a start-up. There are a lot of things to do on a daily basis, and one of those things we recently did was display at a Food Show hosted by...

FedEx Small Business Grant Contest

We've entered the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest Help us win by clicking the on the image to cast your vote. As a woman working in mostly male dominated industries over the years, I have suffered through workplace sexual harassment multiple times. I did try time and time again to move past it by changing jobs frequently, but it was this last time when I endured something far worse than before that I realized I’d had enough, and wasn’t going to put up with it anymore. Working for or with abusers is never a comfortable position to be in, so I started focusing my attention on creating a business that I would not only enjoy, but would keep me safe,...

Empowering Women at Brooklyn Boulders

Yesterday, I had the utmost pleasure of being included on a special panel that was hosted by Nicole Touzien, the General Manager; and, Lexy Amaral the Event Coordinator at Brooklyn Boulders in Long Island City. #IAMWOMAN was a one-day festival highlighting the strength and power of those who identify as women through various workshops. There were vendor tables, which gave female entrepreneurs, like myself, the opportunity to not only spread the word about their products, but to share, and engage their stories with others on similar quests. The day was filled with fun, encouragement, and support. I even hosted a table with free samples throughout the afternoon. Giving visitors, members, and other vendors a chance to enjoy a sweet treat...

Lisa Cotoggio, Founder of Grandma’s Cheesecake Sandwiches decided to give back this year and spend Valentine’s Day 2019 on the streets of Long Island and Manhattan handing out heart-shaped Grandma’s Cheesecake Sandwiches to the homeless residents who live among us. “To say it was the most rewarding experience I have ever had would be an understatement given the look on the many faces I had the opportunity to encounter. The smiles at the mention of receiving a Valentine’s Day treat could have lit a room for days. These people, and people they are, which we forget sometimes were so happy to interact because it made them feel recognized even if just for the passing moment. Everyday they stand invisible to...

Helping the Homeless on Valentine’s Day

Choosing a cause for Valentine’s Day was easy; I went right to the one everyone is currently ignoring. The plight of homelessness has always been in the back of my mind, especially as of late because there are so many of them. You might wonder how this happened, and of course, if you look back in time you will see it all began with one word: deinstitutionalization. This was done by the federal, and state governments across the country, and the consequences of this action have had vast repercussions ever since. And that is just part of the problem, add in the lack of housing for our returning Veterans, something the government also used to supply years ago, think Stuyvesant...
